The Word of Wisdom

Recently, I decided to try a new dinner system. –I am actually stole the idea from my friend Heather (yep, and her hubby’s name is Evan-funny huh?) What I have done is taken a bunch of recipes that we either love or want to try and arranged them all into weeks. I have a total of 12 weeks of meals. So, at the beginning of each week (so far “week” means more than 7 days because of schedules and leftovers) we pick one of the weeks and then I have a ready made grocery list and meal plan for the week. It takes the decision making out of the picture and makes it so that I am not staring into my cupboards each night thinking we have nothing to eat. So far so good. We have tried a couple new recipes and have liked them.

The last couple of weeks though, I have been thinking a lot about the Word of Wisdom. For those that don’t know what this is, the Word of Wisdom is a guideline for staying and eating healthy in connection with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Some things included in this are eating grains and only moderately eating meat. This is the one that has been on my mind the most lately. Especially since Kevin has been having stomach problems and I guess I am really just trying to be more healthy all around.

I am thinking I will revise my ‘weeks’ to include more healthy and more vegetarian dishes and cut back on having meat to a couple meals a week. Does anyone out there (between the two of you that read this blog) have any words of advice or some great recipes?

It’s been a while.

So, I just got home from the gym where I kicked my own butt and logged onto our blog and realized that it has been almost a month since my last post. Yeah, slacker! My excuse is our all too boring lives of work and school, but one would think that we could find something to post on. Thus, I thought I would fill you in on the Currey lives for the last couple crazy-boring weeks.

. . .

Yep, that is how exciting it has been. No really, we had a great V-Day. I made Eggs Benedict for breakfast and we went out to dinner to The Old Spaghetti Factory. That was cool, because I haven’t been there and you get bread, salad or soup and a glass of milk with your meal and it was way cheaper than many other places that we like to frequent. The entree I tried wasn’t the greatest, but that was my fault for not reading the menu and trying something that I couldn’t pronounce.  Next time, I think that I will be safer in my choice of dinner.

Congrats to my little sister Katie for trying out and receiving her acceptance letter within the week to the BYU School of Music. Yay Katie! On the subject of music, the choir that Kevin and I are in called Latter Day Sounds started our musical firesides as well. It has been fun to be a part of this choir and get to share our love of music with others. *Shameless plug-if anyone is interested in coming to a fireside, let me know. We pretty do them every week or so all around the valley.

More excitement revolves around our big trip this summer. We are going on a cruise leaving from NY. We even get to spend a day in NY where I so cunningly got all of Kevin’s family to agree to go see Wicked with me. Yep, on broadway. I will be available for autographs upon return. 🙂 In addition, Kevin and I are going to try our hand at scuba diving. We signed up to go while we are in St. Maartin. The coolest part is that we get to go through some shipwrecks.  Thus, Heather just got back from the gym where I have only a handful of weeks to prepare myself to be seen publically in a bathing suit. Needless to say, I will be frequenting the gym in hopes of shedding  __lbs.
